The much awaited 2018 Skoda Yeti is nearing its release period. The Czech car manufacturer is known for its luxurious sedans but it entered the competitive SUV segment in 2009 with the launching of Yeti model. This model gained popularity and became one of the most trusted SUV crossovers. However, it received critics from a section of consumers who claimed that its design adopts a monotonous boxy shape. Probably, this is the reason the automaker has decided upgrade it for the second generation model. The vehicle is built on MBQ platform, which its shares with the recently launched VW Tiguan five-seater version.

The 2018 Skoda Yeti borrows much of its exterior styling from VW Tiguan with a contrasting exterior pieces and a sloping roof. The upper door creases extending towards the rear end while the lower door creases to create a more sporty appearance. The Skoda is trying to focus on a sleeker profile to replace the current monotonous one. Its front end presents a broader and wider with overlapping Skoda logo from the clamshell bonnet, revised bumper and a pair of slim LED headlamps, headlights and fog lights featuring Skoda light pattern. The same pattern is extended for the taillights. Other exterior features are large sills, angular rear boot hatch, sharper and sculpted side panels as well as square-off wheel arches. We are also expecting extra body cladding with a more rugged outlook, bigger roof rails and extra cladding.
This compact SUV is going to offer a very comfortable and stylish interior with modern infotainment system. The consumers should expect two-tone leather upholstery on higher variants. The 2018 Skoda Yeti’s contemporary interior cabin design gets inspiration from the current generation of Skoda car models. The spacious interior provides sufficient headroom and legroom plus a roomy cargo space.
Among the Yeti’ contemporary interior features a large touchscreen infotainment display screen, push button start, multi-zone automatic climate control, modern air conditioner, leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel satellite navigation system, push-button start, ambient interior lighting, large panoramic sunroof and smartphone integration featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The safety and driver assistance features are adaptive cruise control, reverse parking camera and sensors, automatic emergency braking system, blind-spot monitoring system, lane-departure warning system, premium air bags and safety belts among others. Skoda is going to offer an array of diesel and petrol powertrain variants including a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission system. Mid-range models will get 1.6-liter TSI petrol engine capable of delivering 140 horsepower and 1.6-liter diesel variant rated at 120 horsepower. These two units will be paired with Volkswagen’s DSG 7-speed automatic transmission system.
Those going for top-range models gets the VW’s 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that is good for 180 horsepower. It will be offered with standard all-wheel drive (AWD) system and an optional DSG automatic gearbox. There are also rumors that the automaker is planning for a petrol/electric hybrid power plant, similar to the one powering the current VW Passat GTE.

The new 2018 Skoda Yeti will make its entry into the market either towards the end of this year or early 2018. It will first be released for the European market and later for the other markets for about $ 20,000 as the base price. Top models will cost higher as much as $25,000.
